Coach Jordyn Bassford
Assistant Coach | Hydra Aquatics
Coach Jordyn Bassford brings energy, empathy, and a commitment to helping every swimmer grow in confidence. Originally from Arizona, Jordyn moved to Virginia in 2023 and quickly made an impact as a coach, mentor, and educator in the aquatics community.
Jordyn began swimming at age 15 while searching for a sport that resonated with her. She quickly found success, ultimately becoming varsity team captain in her senior year. Distance events became her specialty, instilling a mindset of endurance, perseverance, and self-trust. While in college, Jordyn helped launch the University of Arizona's club swim team as one of its founding members in 2021.
Her coaching journey began with York Swim Club during the 2024–2025 season. Since 2018, Jordyn has taught swim lessons focused on preparing athletes for team-level participation. She also serves as a lifeguard instructor, equipping the next generation of aquatic first responders with both technical and leadership skills.
Jordyn earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from the University of Arizona in 2023. She draws on her academic foundation in physiology and her passion for mentorship to support swimmers at every stage of development. Her coaching style emphasizes perseverance, self-belief, and trusting the process.
